Install MSDTC onto 2008 R2 Failover Cluster

Hello Everyone,

I am building my first 2008 R2 Cluster to be used for SQL 2008 R2 - I have seen a lot of talk about where to place MSTDC (it's own resource group, within SQL group, etc) but I am having trouble installing it properly or understanding the procedure.

I have built  2003 Clusters and when installing MSDTC, have installed it in the Cluster group and on the same drive as the Quorum.  I no longer see a Cluster group in 08 R2.

This server will be dedicated to a single instance of SQL, so I think I will place MSDTC into the SQL resource group - the question is how do I get it there?

I have created a Resource group called SQL and placed all the disks that SQL will use in it (I'm hoping that is a correct step).  If I right-click this group, I see that I can Add DTC as a resource, but it doesn't prompt for dependencies and won't come online.

If I use the HA wizard, I see that I can install DTC (which requires a unique name, IP, disk) - but this will create a separate resource group.

So: How do I properly install MSDTC so that it is highly available, and is part of the SQL resource group?  Do I have to provide a new name, IP, disk or can it be shared and if so, how do I do that?

Thanks in advance!!!!!!
